USGS Building N-239A at NASA Ames Research Center

Moffett Field, CA

R+C performed an initial evaluation and feasibility study of the existing N239A structure at Moffett Field for conversion to research, lab, and office space. Following the evaluation, the client decided to replace the structure with a new building instead. R+C provided structural and geotechnical engineering services for the new 50,000 sf research, lab, and office building located on Parcel 19. The building consolidates space from multiple Menlo Park locations. Functional spaces include chemical and light industrial labs and a machine shop. Project considerations included designing in accordance with NASA policies, security clearances, and special requirements for the lab spaces, such as the need to reduce electromagnetic fields in the paleomagnetic laboratory.
