-Minimized disruption to continuing operations-Recent tenant improvement for San Francisco Art Institute
Winner for California Preservation Foundation award 2015
The Pier 2 rehabilitation involved seismic strengthening of the existing building, adding new mezzanines, minor upgrades to the existing Cowell Theater, and renovating the box office. The design aimed to minimize disruption to continuing operations of the Herbst Pavilion during construction. The project involved renovation and repair of exterior concrete shear walls in a marine environment. R+C provided structural engineering services for the project and recently completed tenant improvements within the building for the San Francisco Art Institute's graduate program.
Leavening peerless structural engineering skill with humor, philosophy, people skills and, above all, a consummate understanding of San Francisco's permitting process, [Alan] saw this project through.
