R+C was structural engineer for the new library, designed to serve as the social and intellectual hub of the CSU Monterey Bay campus. The 136,000 sf library includes fully wired classrooms, a 24-hour computer facility and cafe, auditoriums, and a state-of-the-art distance learning facility. A three-story atrium running the length of the building brings daylight into the building and offers dramatic views. An under floor air distribution system improves energy efficiency and comfort. The project was designed to meet LEED Silver standards.
