The Mondavi Institute is the realization of the university's vision to create a center for global innovation in academic wine and food programs. The 75,000 square foot building houses the departments of viticulture and enology and food science and technology. It includes classrooms, laboratories, offices, and public education spaces. The institute also contains a $12.5 million, 36,000 square foot teaching and research winery and a $7 million, 13,000 square foot food production plant. The plant includes a brewery, food processing labs, and space for research in advanced packaging and processing technologies. R&C provided structural and geotechnical engineering services for the center.
