Joseph Ungerer    Joseph Ungerer

During his 30 years at R&C, Joe has worked with all building types—from aquariums to university facilities. Most recently, he has served as principal structural engineer on many of the firm’s laboratory projects. His current laboratory projects—many designed in Revit—include a new facility for the Buck Institute, the Stanford School of Medicine Lorry I. Lokey Stem Cell Research Building, and the Science and Engineering Quad 2 laboratory for Stanford’s School of Engineering. Joe received awards for the design of the J. David Gladstone Institutes laboratory at UC San Francisco’s Mission Bay campus and the seismic retrofit of the historic St. Dominic’s Church in San Francisco.

Joe enjoys sharing his experience and teaching the art and science of structural engineering to engineers new to the field. He is a member of the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California and the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering.
