Jay’s 16-year career includes a diverse range of seismic evaluations, retrofits and new building designs. Since joining R&C in 1997, he has worked on San Francisco’s Pier 1 adaptive reuse, the UC San Francisco Parnassus Services Laboratory, the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vallejo, and the Anderson Lucchetti Women’s and Children’s Hospital at Sutter Sacramento. His current work includes management of the structural design team for the new Exploratorium children’s museum in San Francisco, a technically complex project along the waterfront involving the seismic retrofit of the historic steel framed pier 15 building and the concrete pier substructure.

Jay is past chair of the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California Steel Seismology Subcommittee. He has also been involved in R&C-hosted training sessions on the structural portion of the Architect Registration Examination.
