C. Mark Saunders

Mark has been with R&C for 40 years and served as R&C’s president from 2000 to 2010. He is a recognized expert in the structural design of hospitals and research facilities, both academic and commercial.

Mark is chairman of R&C's board of directors. In addition to this role, he remains active as executive principal on many projects. He is involved in the development of initial structural concepts and monitors his projects as they move into later stages. Current projects for which he has served in this role include the Laguna Honda Hospital Replacement, UC Berkeley’s Li Ka-Shing Laboratory and the UC San Francisco Mission Bay Hospital.

Mark is an active member of the structural engineering profession, having served on the board of directors and as president of the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California (SEAONC) and the Applied Technology Council. He is a fellow of SEAONC and of the Structural Engineers Association of California. He served on the California Hospital Building Safety Board from 2000 to 2008 and is currently vice chair of the AISC Seismic Committee.
