R&C offers employees a creative and dynamic working environment. Drawing on the experience of our diverse 75-person staff, we create innovative designs that respect both the concept of the client and the limits of the natural environment. Rutherford & Chekene is committed to seeing each project through to its successful conclusion, working in partnership with owners, architects and contractors—from the conceptual design phase through construction. If you join our team, prepare to be both engaged and challenged!

Over the years, we have worked to create an atmosphere of comfortable professionalism. Our office is designed as a large, open space, separated only by low partitions. R&C offers employees the chance to interact with people at all levels of the company. Everyone from the President to the newest graduate is accessible and happy to speak with you.

We believe it is important to be direct about what we expect from our employees: a high level of commitment and a willingness to continue to learn throughout the course of your employment with the firm. We work with new staff to ensure that they are successfully transitioned into this unique environment. We provide competitive salaries, an extensive health plan, and numerous extra-curricular activities. Mentoring Program

Employees embarking on the first stage of their careers are given the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects under the guidance of senior engineers. Upon joining the firm, recent graduates are teamed with an experienced staff member who guides their progress as they gain experience with various construction materials and techniques. Participation in engineering organizations is encouraged as a way of staying informed of the latest practices and technology. Our goal is to provide our young professionals with an experience base that will prepare them for the rigors of the licensing process.

Educational Opportunities

Engineering, like all technical professions, is an evolving discipline. We encourage our staff to stay informed about technological developments in their fields. We maintain an active series of lunchtime presentations on a variety of topics dealing with practice issues, in-house project updates and new product releases. In addition to arranging field trips to active construction sites, R&C offers employees a continuing education allowance for attendance at internal or external seminars, field trips, or self-directed study.
